Aussie Police Identify Suspects in Heroin Smuggling Case

A rider who appeared on CCTV footage presented himself to authorities to prove his innocence in the flight attendant's drug case. However, investigations confirmed he was not the person who delivered the bag containing heroin.

The Secretary-General of the Narcotics Control Board confirmed that the rider in question delivered a package on June 23rd, a different date and with a different package than the one containing heroin, which was delivered on June 22nd.

Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Australian Border Force met with Thai authorities, sharing information that could lead to the identification of individuals in Australia who were to receive the packages, as well as a network involved in drug trafficking.

Thai authorities, including the Metropolitan Police Bureau and the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, stated that their investigation into the network is complete and arrest warrants are expected within one to two days.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Don Pramudwinai, confirmed that the Thai consulate in Australia is providing close support to the arrested flight attendant, including arranging legal counsel.

Details emerged about the flight attendant, Mina, voluntarily declaring a cloth bag to Australian Border Force. Upon inspection, 12 bags were found, with two containing heroin concealed in the lining.

Mina stated she was hired by a Facebook user named 'Rose' to transport items to Australia, a task she had never undertaken before. Questions were raised about whether she noticed the weight difference in the two heroin-containing bags.

The government's active involvement is seen as crucial to protect Thailand's image and its ambition to become a regional aviation hub, despite the incident being initially deemed a personal matter.

Information from a senior flight manager suggests a potential pattern of flight exchanges to Australia, prompting further investigation into possible intent and past smuggling activities.

Two Uzbek tourists were arrested at Phuket International Airport by customs officials for attempting to smuggle a large quantity of dried cannabis flower and extracts out of Thailand.

The two individuals were found with a combined total of nearly 20 kg of dried cannabis and over 5 kg of processed cannabis products in their luggage.
