Pakorn to Meet Business Leaders on Overhauling Outdated Laws

"We have discussed with the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB) and have proposals regarding the Reinvent Thailand plan, which are proposals to amend outdated subordinate laws that are obstacles to doing business. We have asked the private sector to choose what the government should amend, such as announcements, regulations, orders, or ministerial regulations. Each document must specify what the problem is, what burden it creates, how the government should amend it, and what benefits the private sector will gain. Will it be beneficial to the public? In the discussion on June 10, we asked the private sector to submit their homework."

"The government will pilot the amendment of laws that are obstacles to the business operations of these 7 industry groups. Once a conclusion is reached with the private sector and relevant agencies, public feedback will be sought for the public and all sectors to express their opinions, before finalizing details for the Cabinet's approval."

"The government will take these proposals for public feedback review to see if all private sector proposals are acceptable, or if some proposals may be disagreed with by society as unbalanced. The key principle is to listen to opinions. If acceptable, they will be proposed to the Cabinet via the Prime Minister's Office, so relevant agencies can expedite amendments to their own laws."
